Daily Photo – Mont Saint-Michel at Sunset

Getting to this location at the last second was difficult and lucky.

I started the wild car ride about 30 minutes beforehand inside that walled city. I looked on Google Maps to figure out how to get to this exact spot. Now, I had no mobile internet, so I basically had to memorize the way here. It required going through, and I kid you not, about seven different roundabouts, each one existing in a strange, non obvious spot. Anyway, to my and Tom’s surprise,

‘Every Girl Deserves Flowers:’ Daytona Beach photography exhibit gives girls a voice

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – An upcoming photography exhibit shines the spotlight on students from Pace Center for Girls Volusia-Flagler. The Pace Center provides education, counseling, training and advocacy for middle and high school girls who have experienced trauma.

“I think trauma often silences or quiets, of course, and dims the light of people who experience it. So giving voice, giving young people a voice, giving the girls a voice to kind of say and to express what they’re feeling and what they’re thinking is important,” said Executive Director Sheila Jordan.

Featuring the Moon and the Earth in the picture, the Orion spacecraft took the picture when it reached the maximum mission distance of 268,563 miles away from Earth, the furthest any craft intended to carry humans to space and back has ever traveled according to NASA.

But you don’t have to take our word for it. You can view the picture on NASA’s website at this link.

Cancer couldn’t steal Brendan Fahy Bequette’s love of the camera

ALBANY — After cancer had taken nearly everything from 25-year-old Brendan Fahy Bequette and left him emaciated, nauseated and depressed, he chose to pick up a camera.

One thing the terminal disease could not steal was his artist’s sensibility.

“I always said his middle name was gentle and sensitive,” said his mother, Pat Fahy, a Democratic member of the Assembly who represents Albany.

Starting in sixth grade, he made home movies with a hand-me-down video camera. He directed and produced short anti-war films at Albany High School after reading “The Things They Carried,” a story collection about the Vietnam War

      Picture this: keyword “authenticity”

Nov. 26—Lately we in the photography community have seen an uptick in articles in the photography press about AI — artificial intelligence — and the idea that it endangers the authenticity of photography.

When talking to some of my favorite photographers, I heard, not at all surprisingly, that we believe our own work isn’t immediately or directly threatened by this trend.

One question that comes to my mind early in these conversations is, “Why would you want to create artificial images?” The answer is discouragingly obvious: money. Nobody hires coders and puts them in front of sophisticated computers out of

Country singer Jake Flint dies hours after wedding: ‘My heart is gone’

Country music singer Jake Flint died just hours after his wedding Saturday. He was 37.

“With a broken heart and in deep grief I must announce that Jake Flint has tragically passed away,” his manager, Brenda Cline, wrote on social media Sunday night.

“I’ve tried several times today to make a post, but you can’t comment on what you can’t process,” added Cline, who didn’t reveal a cause of death for the Red Dirt performer and songwriter.

According to a report in the Oklahoman, Flint died Saturday night in his sleep.

Flint’s widow, Brenda Flint, posted a video apparently taken

For those of you who have stuck with this blog for the past few years now, we have covered more than a few stories of photographers getting robbed in San Francisco. From tourists in parks to news crews to even a case of thieves tracking a man to his home, forty miles away, only to rob them, we’ve covered it all.

But today’s story kind of takes the cake when it comes to

Postcards – The Thoughts & Photography of Johnny Martyr

      by Johnny Martyr

Ever since I was a young art student visiting museums on class field trips, I enjoyed buying postcards that depicted the work of my favorite artists. Most people cannot afford original prints of famous photographs, and who really wants to display large prints that are anything less than original? Small postcard sized prints also make the viewer lean in and look closely. Between all this and their easy storage, display and even durability, I’ve grown quite partial to printing my photographs on postcards.

For years I’ve sent clients, magazines, websites and others who’ve supported my photography, postcard
