The Mighty Statue – Stuck in Customs

Daily Photo – The Mighty Statue

Where three seas meet on the southern tip of India you’ll find this massive statue just out of the ocean. I took this at sunrise one morning after we got off the train. It was a disorienting morning because the train rumbled down the tracks all night then we got out at about 4 AM. Everything is a bit confusing when waking up at 4 AM! Then it was even more confusing navigating a bunch of tiny and crowded Indian streets in the dark of

Capture One Perpetual License Holders No Longer Guaranteed Access to New Features

The way consumers purchase software has changed a lot over the past decade.

And with the advent of software as a service and subscription-based plans, we’re probably not going back to the gold old days.

Capture One users were recently reminded of this very modern phenomenon when they were told that perpetual license holders were no longer guaranteed access to new features and functionality in the future.

The change isn’t immediate – in fact, it doesn’t take effect until February 2023 – but that hasn’t stopped some users from expressing their thoughts

      Bright Lights, Big City, and…SANTACON!!!

Just had the pleasure of wandering the Big Apple in search of the lights of the holidays, in the company of some very cool photos, and with that preeminently talented duo, Fancy Girl Street Boy. (Otherwise known as Liza Politi and Ari Espay.)

The swarming holiday crowds indicate the city is back, at least in terms of visitors, once again brimming over with its customary energy and verve. Moving through the streets is like playing rugby, and finding a seat in a restaurant will lead to searching for the lost ark.

Times Square, never a shrinking violet of a locale, … Read More

Clumsy cub and smiling fish among Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards winning images

      By Issy Ronald, CNN

(CNN) — An image of a 3-month-old lion cub falling out of a tree has been named the overall winner of this year’s Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards.

The moment was captured by Jennifer Hadley in the Serengeti, Tanzania, late one afternoon, and the image was fought off the competition from 5,000 other entries.

“It didn’t even occur to me that he would make a go of getting down by himself in the most un-cat like fashion. I mean, how often do cats fall out of trees?” Hadley said in a press release from the Comedy Wildlife

Apple Updates iCloud Encryption to Better Protect User Photos

Photo storage options are many but they are not all created equal, particularly when it comes to user data privacy and security.

One of the biggest players in this area is, naturally, Apple, maker of the iPhone among other popular products. Apple owners that use the company’s iCloud for photo cloud backup and storage are getting some beefed-up security features in a bid to make Cupertino’s products the safest on the block.

Called “Advanced Data Protection for iCloud” in the blog post introducing it alongside two other

Staten Island cameras issue less than 1% of NYC’s bus lane tickets, but that’s about to change

STATEN ISLAND, NY — Like it or not, automated enforcement cameras have become a part of everyday life in New York City.

Each day, thousands of speed, red light and bus lane cameras issue violations to drivers breaking the law, whether they’re exceeding the speed limit, running a red light or blocking a bus lane during designated hours.

Here on Staten Island, drivers are far more accustomed to being ticketed by speed cameras and red light cameras, with both issuing millions of dollars worth of fines on a yearly basis.

However, barely any bus lane camera violations have been issued

Adobe Creates Guidelines for AI-Generated Content Submissions to Adobe Stock

Artificial intelligence can pretty much handle anything these days, including creating entire scenes out of thin air.

And with such capabilities come new debates about what constitutes an original work and how should AI-generated content be treated on archives like Adobe Stock.

Well, as you can imagine, this is all a relatively new field and one that we’ve covered pretty extensively over the past year.

Given that, Adobe is taking a pretty big step forward and codifying guidelines around AI-generated content that should make it

In order to help boost community involvement for this exhibit they’re doing something a little different.
