Arizona attorney general: Pre-1901 abortion ban enforceable

PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona’s Republican attorney general announced Wednesday that a pre-statehood law that bans all abortions is enforceable and that he will soon file for the removal of an injunction that has blocked it for nearly 50 years.

Attorney General Mark Brnovich’s office said after the US Supreme Court overturned its 1973 decision that said abortion was a constitutional right that he was weighing whether the old law could be enforced.

His decision puts him at odds with Republican Gov. Doug Ducey. The governor had said after he signed a new law banning abortions after 15 weeks in March

How To Use Details In Your Compositions For Tantalising Photographs

When I started shooting videos some 17 years ago, I treated the medium the way I did with photography. That is to say, in most shots, I would try to capture the entire subject in one image.

Video, however, doesn’t work like that. First you are restricted to landscape format if you create bona fide films. Secondly, wide angles were quite lacking in the video, so to get everything in, you had to pan or tilt. Lastly and most importantly, the thought was that a good video film does not consist entirely of wide, all-encompassing shots of the entire subject.

A Photographer and a Gentleman…. « Joe McNally Photography

Douglas Kirkland recently passed away. His photographs are a celebration of beauty, and will live on. His death was widely noted, as he was a true legend of this industry. Below, a story in DP Review. The banner pic above was the group shot from the book, A Day in the Life of Hollywood, which of course was Douglas’ home turf. The formidable and friendly photographer Henry Groskinsky was given the daunting task of photographing 75 other photogs, all antique and impatient.

In the late seventies, I was a copy kid at the NY Daily News. Lots of rambunctious and

Ground control to Major Tom - a sleeping astronaut is depicted on a mural in a restaurant in Genoa.
Space Oddity | Genoa | 2022

“Ground Control to Major Tom” – I’m sure, you know the lyrics of David Bowie’s legendary song “Space Oddity”. I would question whether Major Tom would be available on the other side of the line. Not only, because yesterday NASA had to cancel for the third time the launch of the new Artemis moon rocket due to technical problems (I would be curious if they dubbed one of the traveling passenger dummies “Major Tom” – if anyone knows please comment below ). But also because this astronaut, depicted on a mural in a restaurant

A New 3,200-Megapixel Camera Has Astronomers Salivating

The world’s biggest digital camera is finally coming into focus. While a very powerful personal camera might have megapixel resolution, astronomers have constructed a device that will image the distant universe with 3.2 gigapixel resolution. (A gigapixel is equivalent to 1,000 megapixels.)

That camera will be the workhorse for the Vera C. Rubin Observatory’s telescope, which has been in the works for about two decades but is nearly complete. At the end of September, scientists and technicians working in an enormous clean room at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Menlo Park, California, finished assembling the sensitive camera’s mechanical
